    • "Men meldt ons uit Oldeboorn: Met genoegen lazen wij uit een paar nieuwsbladen van Kaapstad, hoe hodg onze voormalige dorpsgenoot, de heer P. W. Haasdijk, daar als componist en pianist staat aangeschreven. Kaapstad, zoo wordt daarin gezegd, mag gleuk worden gewenscht met het bezit van een componist van groot talent in den persson van den heer Haasdijk. Hij heeft een muziekstuk gecomponeerd in drie onderdeelin, waarin het menschelijk leven wordt voorgesteld vanaf het leven van een kind tot den vollen mannelijken leeftijd. Het eerste concert door hem en de heeren J. Luyt en W.M. van Erkel, allen leeraren van het convent, waarbij dit werk werd opgevoerd, werd met groot applaus ontvangen."
