    • In search of van Rhee roots. At first during the 1980s I searched for an Uilkje Johannes in the Heerenveen area and found one! Uilkje Johannes Olingius b. Heerenveen 12 Apr 1754, bap. 1 Dec 1758. As a result I found the rest of the family of Johannes Olingius and Rinske Binnis, all born and baptized in Heerenveen: Anna Maria bap. 31 Dec 1747, Harmannus Philippus bap. 9 Mar 1752, Uilkjen b. 12 Apr 1754, bap. 1 Dec 1758, Johannes b. between 1754 and 1758 (I think), bap. 1 Dec 1758. On this basis I made the assumption that this family was the progenitor of the van Rhee clan. I believe now that I was wrong.

In subsequent years I found that Johannes van Rhee and Antie Jans had three children in Heerenveen: Harmina bap. 15 Mar 1750, Harmina bap. 17 May 1751, Jan bap. 8 Apr 1752. Still later I discovered that a Johannes van Rhee (Ree) had four children in de Knijpe, about 4 km east of Heerenveen. However, in these records there is no mention of a wife. These four were: Uijlkjen bap. 1 Dec 1756, Diek bap. 20 Apr 1760, Durk bap. 28 Aug 1763, Harmijntje bap. 20 Oct 1765. The time frame would lead one to believe these seven children all belong to the same family and the family moved from Heerenveen to de Knijpe sometime between 1752 and 1756. I now make the assumption (2006) that this family is the progenitor of our van Rhee family even though there is no direct proof at this time. I intend to keep searching for this proof!

In addition, a Jacobus van Rhee (Ree) and Riemke Johannes had four chldren in Heerenveen: Dirk bap. 28 Sep 1738, Aukjen bap. 22 May 1740, Vroukje bap. 2 Sep 1742, Johannes bap. 26 Sep 1744. Could Jacobus be an older brother to Johannes??

Finally, an Anna van Rhee came to de Knijpe from Amsterdam on 11 Mar 1773. She was the wife of F.A. van Guerenbeen and returned to Amsterdam 11 Apr 1780. How does she fit into this family??
