    • "Zondag. 11 uur comparitie ten huize Dijkstra der contribuabelen in de directe belasting tagen Nederveen, die met het den 20sten Januarius 1851 gesloten verdrag geen genoegen had genomen. Het accoord was in voorstel veranderd, want bepaald met de Heer Grietman en Secretaris om te dienene tot advys. De volmagt, het bestuur, had alles aangewend tot aanneming. Een der weigerenden had toegegeven. Dus nog een die van niets wilde weten, en die daagde de beslissing der rechtbank: W.M. Bottema. De zaak is voor de Minister van Finantie of Justitie geweest om uitkomst, doch het schijnt dat de Minister afwijzend beslist heeft. Nu is de ontvanger Nederveen moediger geworden, had op ? aangeboden, doch heeft nu geciteerd en gesommeerd: morgen betaling, of vervolging naar de wet. Er zijn, die door de korf zijn gezakt en hebben betaald. Doch heden is besloten hem, Nederveen, het hoofd te bieden, en niet dan door wet en dwang te worden genoodzaakt. Aan drie is de volmagt tot wederstand opgedragen, als: J.M. Bottema, Boschloo en R.A. Hofstra. Die niet waagt, die niet wint. Fiat maar!"
